When DC revealed the DC Universe app back in 2018, it was available only in the US. DC promised that it be available to other markets as soon as it could. In ways, it happened and never happened at the same time. Warner Bros. ended the DC Universe app in its original form, moving its video library and all of its original series such as Doom Patrol & Young justice to what would become HBOMax. HBOMax would be available in more markets. What remained of the DC Universe app morphed into DC Universe Infinite. It became the home of DC Comics’ digital comic book library, launching with over 25,000 issues. The platform comes with other exclusives for subscribers. Unfortunately, DC Universe Infinite remained unavailable to international fans – until now.
DC Universe Infinite, containing thousands of titles dating all the way from the Golden Age of the ’30s and ’40s to modern titles which hit the app just six months after their initial release, is going global.
Comics fans in Canada can now join in on the fun with their American friends. DC Universe Infinite is now available on iOS & Android devices in Canada. After that, access to DC Universe Infinite will continue its trek as the rollout moves into Australia & New Zealand on March 29. The United Kingdom joins in on April 28. DC also revealed platform will move into the Brazilian and Mexican sometime this summer. They also promised more locations to come.
“DC is thrilled to soon welcome comic book fans from other countries to our digital service for the first time,” states Anne Leung DePies, DC’s senior vice president & general manager, when making the announcement of the app’s expansion.
“Making DC Universe Infinite available globally is one of our major priorities and this launch is the first of many more to come,” she said. “It is one more way fans of every generation around the world can engage with DC’s iconic superheroes!”
DC also promises further international markets for DC Universe Infinite to be announced soon. Tune in here at GrandAdmiral.net as we learn more about new locations.
