So I Guess I’m Back

There’s been a big gap between my last blog post and this one. Ironically, I’m writing this in what will be, come July, my 35th year as a diabetic. Now, the post isn’t about life as a diabetic, but it is crazy that I’m bring this website up as I reach another milestone in life.

So… welcome to This isn’t my first website. To be honest, it isn’t my second either. It is, however, the first site I am going to be putting some serious effort in see succeed. It should help that, this time around, this site will get more effort than any of my other projects as I am going to be focusing on the things I truly love – history and comic books. I plan on doing a lot in addition to blogging – podcast, articles, book reviews, etc. I invite you all to tune in and enjoy the ride.

So Why History?

This has been asked many times over the years and the answer has never changed… don’t ask why. I’ve never liked history.

  • Dr. Raphael Cassimere, Jr.

It was my worse subject in high school. Then came college at the University of New Orleans and Dr. Raphael Cassimere, Jr. I was actually a poli sci major at the point he approached me about problems I was having. Simply put, I hated poli sci, or more specifically, I hated the poli sci faculty. What sealed that was when I went to speak with a professor about issues with a class and his response to me… “We’re not teachers. We’re scholars.” Of course, I’m thinking to myself, “What the hell?” By the time I saw Dr. Cassimere that day, I had more credits in history than in poli sci. I didn’t know that at the time, but Dr. Cassimere did and he made it a point to let me know so. By the end of the semester, I changed my major…

The rest, as they say, is history (pun intended)…

And Of Course, There’s Comics

I love comic books. They have been a part of me for most of my life. i can only imagine what my collections would look like had it not been for Hurricane Katrina in 2005 (actually, it would probably be around 10,000 books). So the collection is a little short of 5,000 books, but growing. Of course, the majority are of the Caped Crusader, the Dark Knight, the guy to the left. Ironically, you won’t see me doing much talking about Batman here (crazy, I know). I do that at The Batman Universe. I invite you to stop by there for a visit as well for all things Batman – news, reviews, podcasts, and more. There’s a whole lot more that I’ll attempt to cover here. The comic book industry, despite its problems, is strong and vast.

I hope you enjoy this journey with me.
